New book celebrates local women who left their Mark on ‘herstory’

QUINCY — Author Nancy Benz and Robert Turek, creator of “Colorful Quincy,” recently released a new book titled, “Trailblazing Midwestern Women That Made Their Mark on Herstory.” 

The book features inspirational true stories of women who persisted in doing what was right despite overwhelming odds, including Marie Ruoff Byrum, Albert Cashier, Victoria Woodhull, Lizzie Magie and many more Inspirational women. The women highlighted in the book are all from within a 100-mile radius of Quincy.

The book tells the stories of the first woman to run for president, a woman who fought in the Civil War, the woman who invented Monopoly and the world’s tallest woman. Inspiring stories are told through detailed biographies and hand-drawn illustrations. The book is available in both paperback and a Kindle E-reader E-book.
