QUINCY — Partners on the Adams County Works Career Guidance Team are hosting Career Launch Signing Day at 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 4 in the Quincy Community Theater inside the Oakley-Lindsay Center, 300 Civic Center Plaza.

The event, which celebrates students entering the workforce, is in partnership with Great River Economic Development Foundation, John Wood Community College and Quincy Area Vocational and Technical Center.

All are welcome and encouraged to attend and celebrate these students who chose an in-demand regional career and are now being hired by local employers. Students becoming newly hired employees, along with the companies they work for, will sign an empowering work-ready pledge. Each newly hired student will also receive a special certificate from the Adams County Works team and partners.

In a press release, Evelyn Morris, director at QAVTC and a ACW team member, said, “Quincy Area Vocational Technical Center is proud of our students and their accomplishments. We strive to provide hands-on opportunities and experiences to area high school students, helping them develop essential workplace skills to further their career goals within our community.”

The event recognizes students entering careers in transportation, distribution and logistics, manufacturing and agriculture. Current employers participating are Amcon Distributing, Doyle Manufacturing, John Wood Community College, Koch Farms, Logan Agri-Service and WisPak.

The Career Guidance Team’s mission is to encourage and foster awareness of careers, educate youth and job seekers about area career opportunities and build connections between families and local employers.
