Get new ideas for outdoor space at Gardener’s Palette on March 5 at Quincy Senior Center

University of Illinois Extension Master Gardeners

QUINCY — The 26th annual Gardener’s Palette all-day conference, offered by the University of Illinois Extension Master Gardeners, offers educational sessions for all levels of gardening interest and experience. It will be held from 9 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. March 5 at the Quincy Senior & Family Resource Center, 639 York. Check-in will begin at 8:30 a.m.

Presentations will be given by experts in horticulture, natural resources, and landscape. Topics will be:

  • Pollinators
  • Greenhouse Production
  • Professional Pruning
  • Tree Root Troubles
  • Gardening with Wildlife
  • Peonies
  • Vegetables
  • Growing and Using Culinary Herbs
  • Preparing Home Landscapes for Natural Disasters
  • Landscape Water Management.

Two Make and Take workshops also will be available. The morning workshop will teach how to plant and maintain succulents. Each participant can pot and take home their choice of baby succulents. The afternoon workshop will focus on flavoring with herbs. Participants will create their own herb-infused vinegar.

The cost to attend is $35. This includes choice of presentations during each session, a box lunch, access to the vendor fair and materials for breakout sessions.
