QUINCY — The Quincy University Music Department has moved all offices and practice rooms into the Connie Niemann Center for Music, 17th and Seminary Road.

In a press release, Christine Damm, dean of the school of fine arts and communication, said, “The QU music program is so excited about the renovated space. Having the new offices, practice rooms and classrooms directly next to the Connie Niemann Center for Music provides a cohesive space for our students and growing music program.”

Until these renovations were completed, the music program facilities were in two buildings at North Campus. All music department offices, classrooms, practice rooms and music library are now located in the Connie Niemann Center for Music. These enhancements were made possible by a portion of a grant the university received in January 2024 from the Illinois Board of Higher Education.

“This renovation has really helped us to feel recognized as a department,” said Alanna Edgecomb, a junior music major. “As a whole, it has helped to renew our excitement, allowing us to put our best foot forward for ourselves and for QU.”

The music department will host an open house on October 20 following the Hawk Express Jazz Band fall concert.
