QUINCY — The Quincy Area Autism Support Group’s annual event and awareness walk is set from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 2 in Upper Moorman Park, 1610 Moorman Park. The Autism Acceptance and Awareness Walk is set to start at 11 a.m. with activities to follow. Food and refreshments will be provided.

This event/awareness walk is a day to celebrate loved ones and friends living with autism. World Autism Awareness Day is internationally recognized on April 2. It encourages others to raise awareness about people living with autism throughout the world. The Autism Acceptance and Awareness Walk will bring families, caregivers and organizations together to spread awareness for those with the disorder.

The group’s mission is to provide families and caregivers of individuals with autism spectrum disorders with a chance to learn, share and gain support from other members. The group provides free resources to families, teachers, caregivers and others. It also provides educational speakers and hands-on learning opportunities to increase the child’s quality of life and success at home, at school and in the community.

This event will not be canceled for weather. The group also asks people not to bring bicycles, roller skates, rollerblades or skateboards to the walk. Strollers and wagons are encouraged.
