Hannibal man fleeing from Hannibal Police officer dies after crashing into passenger vehicle

HANNIBAL, Mo. — A Hannibal man died Thursday in a crash with a passenger vehicle in the 300 block of Beech Street.

Officers with the Hannibal Police Department at approximately 5 p.m. Thursday, May 25, were called to the 300 block of Beech in reference to an assault. During the investigation, it was determined David L. Hall, 54, caused visible injuries to another person. 

While investigating the assault, an officer observed Hall on scene driving a motorcycle. The officer attempted to stop Hall to make a felony arrest, but he continued to flee traveling outside of city limits on County Road 449. Hall drove his motorcycle on the opposite side of the road and collided with a passenger vehicle. 

Hall was pronounced dead at the scene by the Marion County Coroner. The driver of the vehicle was treated at Hannibal Regional Hospital. The Missouri State Highway Patrol Crash Team is conducting the traffic crash investigation.
