Red Dog Saloon raises $36,000 for Fishing for Freedom Quincy

MEYER, Ill. — The Red Dog Saloon recently presented a check for $36,000 for Fishing for Freedom Quincy after its fundraising efforts this year. 

This year’s event offered sand volleyball, silent auctions, raffles, kids activities, food and live entertainment, with music entertainment offered by Tim Hart and Captain Geech and the Shrimp Shack Shooter.

Fishing For Freedom-Quincy is bass, catfish and crappie tournament that pairs active military and veterans with boaters (professional anglers, avid tournament fishermen, fishing guides, and local outdoorsmen) for a fun day of fishing. It relies solely on outside organizations for funding. 

In its announcement of the donation, the Fishing for Freedom Quincy board said the event’s success is possible due in large part to the dedication of the saloon’s staff.

“Red Dog Saloon’s support and patriotism shown is second to none,” the board said in a press release. “They love everything about giving back to our American warriors. Red Dog Saloon has been the largest sponsor for several years running, and the group’s efforts to raise awareness and funding for the annual event are greatly appreciated.”

The seventh annual Fishing for Freedom Quincy fundraiser was held Sept. 18.
