QUINCY — Men who have never had prostate cancer and meet the age requirements are eligible for a free prostate cancer screening between 1-5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 30 at the Blessing Cancer Center.

The screening age is over age 40 for Black men and over age 45 year for men of all other races. The screening age for Black men is younger because their fatality rate from prostate cancer is twice as high as other races and ethnicities. Overall health status also is an important consideration when making a decision about screening.

Space is limited. Registration is required. Call 1-877-411-2468 to register.

Screening participants should park in the parking lot near the Moorman Pavilion north entrance of Blessing Hospital, 11th and Oak, and call 217-223-8400, ext. 7826, to check in upon arrival. Blessing Cancer staff will call back the participant to come into the building when they are ready to conduct the screening. Participants will enter the building through the Moorman Pavilion north entrance of Blessing Hospital.

Masks must be worn by everyone entering Blessing Hospital and remain on for the duration of the visit. Masks are available at the north entrance.
