QUINCY — Five Quincy Notre Dame students recently were named 2022 All-State musicians by the Illinois Music Education Association. Auditions were held throughout the state at nearly 300 Illinois high schools.

Illinois students in grades 10-12 who were selected for the district level ensemble (QND is in District 4) are eligible for All-State. To be considered for All-State, students must attend the district festival in its entirety and then may be selected from all the district participants for All-State ensembles and individual honors.

Students selected from Quincy Notre Dame were Ian Paxton, junior (All-State chorus); Ella Damm, senior (All-State band, contra-alto clarinet); Josh VanderBol, senior (All-State honors chorus); Adam Liesen, senior (All-State honors chorus); and Nolan Smith, junior (All-State chorus).

EDITOR’S NOTE: A previous version of this story listed four students who were All-State musicians.
