QMG officially becomes partner with Downers Grove medical group
QUINCY — Quincy Medical Group on Monday officially became a member of Duly Health and Care in Downers Grove, the largest independent, multi-specialty physician-directed medical group in the Midwest. Duly has more than 900 primary care and specialty care physicians and more than 6,000 team members in more than 150 locations. Quincy Medical Group’s includes 155 providers in 35 specialties, spanning 18 locations across communities in Illinois, Iowa and Missouri.
QMG announced in early September it had signed a letter of intent to join with DuPage Medical, becoming one organization. DuPage Medical Group became Duly Health and Care on Sept. 15.
“Together, the groups will forge a new path for improved access to affordable and patient-centric healthcare, while deepening investment in local services and programs that deliver an extraordinary experience for people across Illinois, Iowa, Missouri and beyond,” a news release read.
Duly is led by Steve Nelson, chief executive officer, and Dr. Paul Merrick, clinical board chairman. Carol Brockmiller will remain CEO of Quincy Medical Group and will join Duly’s senior management team. Dr. Todd Petty remains chairman of QMG’s board of managers, which will continue to oversee physician recruitment and retention, quality of care and clinical best practices.
“We join Duly today from a position of strength – with aligned strategic priorities and aspirations,” Petty said in a news release. “As part of the Duly organization, we will invest in the expansion of health offerings, advancement of innovation and delivery of the best care for our patients. This new partnership comes at the right time for our physicians and team members and, it is the right thing to do for the communities we serve.”
“As part of the Duly family, we look forward to challenging the expected, because our region deserves extraordinary healthcare,” Brockmiller said. “Our physicians and team members are joining a mighty force in healthcare’s future.”
“Duly Health and Care is delighted to welcome Quincy Medical Group,” Nelson said. “The Quincy team has a remarkable track record of excellence and a rich legacy of community caring.”
DuPage Medical Group began 50 years ago as the brainchild of Dr. Robert McCray, a local surgeon and health care visionary. The group broke ground in August 1963 on a 12,000-square-foot building. They named the clinic Glen Ellyn Clinic, partly in homage to the Mayo Clinic. Glen Ellyn Clinic opened Sept. 1, 1964, with eight physicians, 15 nurses and a staff of lab technicians and administrative personnel.
DuPage Medical Group eventually became the state’s leading multi-specialty group practice. With more than 700 primary care and specialty physicians in more than 120 locations, DuPage Medical Group was home to nearly 1.1 million patient visits annually, treating about a third of DuPage County’s population.
