Hannibal Tree Board’s June Tree of the Month is oak tree on Palmyra Road
HANNIBAL, Mo. — The Hannibal Tree Board’s Tree of the Month for June is an oak tree at 3285 Palmyra Road at the home of Brian Osborn, who planted the tree 35 years ago after buying it in Shelbina.
The Tree Board established a Tree of the Month Award to celebrate Hannibal’s beautiful urban forest and its stewards. The Tree Board’s mission is to encourage and inspire by example proper planting and tree care in Hannibal.
The city of Hannibal has earned the Tree City USA designation for more than 26 years in recognition of its commitment to urban and community forestry programs.
According to Tree Board guidelines, the tree must be residential and visible from the street; distinctive with good form; and well-cared for, properly pruned with no dead limbs.
