HANNIBAL, Mo. — An Arkansas couple is in the Marion County Jail after being charged with drug trafficking.

The 10th Judicial Circuit Court of Marion County issued warrants for Heather A. Coleman, 45, of Yellville, Ark., and Kenneth E. Coleman, 48, of Harrison, Ark. Heather Coleman also was charged with possession of a controlled substance.

The charges stem from an incident that began on Thursday, June 19, at approximately 1:28 p.m. in the 400 block of Huck Finn Shopping Center for a report of stealing. Before officers with the Hannibal Police Department arrived, the person had left. Officers obtained a description of the person and vehicle.

A short time later, officers located and stopped the vehicle. The license plate had been stolen from Springfield, Mo., and magnetically secured to the original Arkansas license plate. Heather Coleman was contacted and taken into custody. Keneth Coleman was contacted inside a business in the 3600 block of Stardust and brought to the police department.

The vehicle was towed to the police department, and detectives applied for a search warrant for the vehicle. Upon searching the vehicle, officers located stolen items, devices used to remove security tags, items commonly used for packaging drugs, a substance believed to be methamphetamine, and 334 capsules believed to be fentanyl.

Both of the Colemans remain in the Marion County Jail with bonds set at $75,000.
