Diane E. Prenger – Duker & Haugh

Diane E. Prenger, age 69, of Quincy died on Monday, June 23, 2025, in her home. She was born on October 29, 1955, in Quincy, IL, the daughter of William T. and Betty B. (Braungardt) Chatten. She married Joseph V. Prenger on August 9, 1975, in Quincy. He survives.

Diane graduated from Quincy Senior High in 1973. While in high school she played the piano for the choir. She attended Murray State in Kentucky and graduated from Culver Stockton College. Diane was a member of the Alpha Xi Delta sorority at Culver.

She previously worked as an elementary school teacher at Unit 3 School District before taking time off to devote herself to her family as a homemaker. Diane began her 34-year career with the State of Illinois Unemployment Office as an adjudicator, later becoming the facility manager, retiring in 2020.

Diane had attended Ellington Presbyterian Church and Faith Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the Breakfast Kiwanis Club.

She enjoyed boating on the Mississippi and at the Lake of the Ozarks. Diane and Joe treasured their time “snowbirding” in Florida during the winter months. Diane was an excellent baker and well known for Apple Bars. Throughout her life, Diane liked working alongside her family at Chatten Orchard, both on the sales floor and in the orchard tending to the trees and fruit. She loved being a Grandma and enjoyed telling everyone about them.

In addition to her husband, Diane is survived by her three children: Brian Prenger (Summer) of Quincy; Carrie Noble (Charlie) of Quincy; and Daniel Prenger of Osage Beach, Missouri. Her loving dog Jax; seven grandchildren: Makenzie, Gaven, Eden, and Remington Prenger, Parker, Jett, and Bo Noble.

Her sister, Janet Willand (Dave) of Osage Beach, Missouri; a sister-in-law Sandy Chatten of Quincy; brothers in-law Ed Prenger (Mimi) and Jim Prenger (Cristi) all of Osage Beach, MO, and her nieces and nephews, who lovingly referred to her as Aunt DeeDee.

Diane was preceded in death by her parents, and brother Frank Chatten.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

Memorials are suggested to the Quincy Humane Society.
