QUINCY — Blessing Hospice is bringing back Butterfly Moments at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17, at the Moorman Park large shelter house.

It is open to all area residents to honor the memory of a deceased loved one by buying and releasing a butterfly. The person being honored does not have to have received hospice care.

The butterfly symbolizes the transition between life and death. The caterpillar forms its cocoon and prepares to leave the life it knows, becoming a lovely butterfly and beginning a new life.

Cost is $10 per butterfly. Orders must be placed by Aug. 1 at blessinghealth.org/butterflymoments and completing the online form.

A list of the names of people being honored, and release of the butterflies in unison, will take place at 2 p.m. If the person reserving the butterfly cannot attend, the butterfly will be released by a member of the Blessing Hospice staff.

In the event of rain, people reserving butterflies will come to Moorman Park and pick up their butterfly to release at their own time when the weather clears.

The Moorman Park large shelter house is off of North 36th Street, with an additional entrance from Columbus Road between 36th and 48th Streets.
