QU art professor honored with Watercolor USA Honor Society lifetime achievement

QUINCY — The Watercolor USA Honor Society (WHS) recently selected Robert Lee Mejer, Quincy University distinguished professor of art, as its Lifetime Achievement Award recipient for 2025.
Mejer is a signature charter member of the National Watercolor Society, a distinguished master of the Transparent Watercolor Society of America and a master fellowship member of the International Society of Experimental Artists. Mejer served as WHS president for four years.
Mejer has been at Quincy University for 57 years. He is the founder and curator of QU Gray Gallery. His work has been shown in more than 65 solo exhibitions and accepted for more than 500 juried exhibitions.
In a press release, Mejer said, “In my work, I hope to present (inside to out) rather than represent (outside to in).”
The 2025 Watercolor USA National Juried Exhibition will be held at the Spiva Art Center in Joplin, Mo., from Aug. 23 to Oct. 11, with a special opening reception on Aug. 22.
