Robert Alan “Bob” Soltys — Duker & Haugh

Robert Alan “Bob” Soltys, age 68, of Quincy, died unexpectedly on July 7, 2025 in his home. He was born November 25, 1956, in Elizabeth, NJ the son of George and Grace (Kelly) Soltys. He married Ann Hummel on June 24, 1989, in St. Francis Catholic Church. She survives.

Bob graduated from Loyola High School in New York City in 1974 and continued his education with Purdue University graduating in 1979 with a degree in Chemical Engineering. Bob continued his higher education career by obtaining his MBA from Quincy University in 1989.

He was employed for 41 years at American Cyanamid/BASF before retiring in 2020.

He was a member of St. Peter Church and participated in Men’s Group, Why Catholic Bible Study, and as a member of the Broadcast Ministry Team. He was also a faithful volunteer at the Palmyra Food Pantry.

Bob had a great love for sports, and closely followed the Purdue football and basketball teams, New York Mets and New York Jets. He is known by many as an avid tennis player in Quincy. Bob was a member of the USTA, Quincy Racquet Club, and the Captain of the summer traveling tennis team that played in Springfield, IL.

In addition to his wife Ann, Bob is survived by his children: Greg of Quincy, IL; Emily Salinas (Andrew) of Puyallup, WA. Siblings: Mike Soltys (Susan) of Wilmington, DE; Paul Soltys (Maria) of Holmdel, NJ; Kathy Jablonski (Joe) of Brick, NJ; sister in law Elaine Soltys of Manchester, NJ. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, George Soltys Jr., parents’ in-law, Gerald and Wilma Hummel.

Bob was a wonderful husband, father, brother, and friend to all! He never met a stranger and never hesitated to help those in need. He will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Peter Church.
Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home.
