Norah Bryant, a sophomore at the University of Missouri-Columbia, has been named Summer Spotlight Employee of the Week at the Ronny Ferrel Hannibal Aquatic Center. This is Bryant’s first year as a lifeguard but fifth year working at the aquatic center.

Hannibal Parks and Recreation is paying tribute to employees at the Ronny Ferrel Aquatic Center this summer with a special award each week.

Bryant said the most rewarding part of the job is meeting new children during swim lessons. Her favorite song to hear on the lifeguard stand is “Welcome to the Jungle,” and her favorite concession stand treat is a sundae cone.

In a press release, Emily Hultgren, aquatics director, said, “Norah has been an outstanding addition to the lifeguard team this year. She consistently arrives on time and approaches her responsibilities with professionalism and enthusiasm. Lifeguarding is a demanding role, but Norah handles it with ease and confidence. Her vigilance both in and out of the water ensures a safe environment for everyone. Beyond her strong work ethic, Norah brings a positive attitude and a fun energy that lifts team morale. She is a reliable, cheerful presence who enhances the experience for both coworkers and guests.”

The Summer Spotlight Employee receives prizes from McDonalds, Tom Boland Ford, Coffee Barn, Java Jive and Families and Communities Together.
