Oakland Raiders quarterback Ken Stabler was born on Christmas Day.

Daily Dirt for Dec. 25, 2021

I’ve always wondered if people born on Christmas got twice as many presents — you know, for both their birthday AND Christmas — or, do they get half as many as they would if their birthday had been at a different time of the year? Welcome to today’s three thoughts in Vol. 168 of the Daily Dirt.

1. Here are 10 famous people born on Christmas Day.

  • Humphrey Bogart: Bogey was named the greatest male star of classic American cinema by the American Film Institute in 1999.
  • Ryan Seacrest: America’s superhost who first came to prominence on “American Idol.”
  • Dr. Anthony Fauci: In this day and age, it’s safe to say we all know who this guy is.
  • Rickey Henderson: The man who proved crime pays in a handsome way. He’s MLB’s all-time greatest base stealer.
  • Kenny Stabler: The Snake was the heart and soul of some of those old Oakland Raiders teams.
  • Jimmy Buffet: The “Cheeseburger in Paradise” guy is now 75 and still performing.
  • Barbara Mandrell: The 2009 Country Music Hall of Fame inductee was the first performer to win the Country Music Association’s “Entertainer of the Year” award twice.
  • Annie Lennox: Rolling Stone magazine named her one of the 100 greatest singers of all time. She is best remembered for her days with Dave Stewart, a duo that formed the Eurythmics.
  • Louis Chevrolet: The Swiss-born American racing driver co-founded the Chevrolet Motor Company in 1911.
  • Robert Ripley: The guy who gave us “Ripley’s Believe It Or Not.”
Lloyd Christmas, left, was portrayed by Jim Carrey in “Dumb and Dumber.”

2. My favorite fictional movie characters who had the name of Christmas:

  • Gold medal: Lloyd Christmas, played by Jim Carrey, in the “Dumb and Dumber” movies.
  • Silver medal: Dr. Christmas Jones, portrayed by Denise Richards in the James Bond film “The World Is Not Enough.”
  • Bronze medal: Lee Christmas, a member of “The Expendables” in the movie franchise of the same name, portrayed by Jason Statham.

3. Ever wonder what the biggest-selling Christmas albums were? Well, wonder no longer. Here’s your answer.

  • 1. Elvis Presley: “Elvis’ Christmas Album” (1970).
  • 2. Mariah Carey: “Merry Christmas” (1994).
  • 3. Kenny G: “Miracles: The Holiday Album” (1994).
  • 4. Michael Buble: “Christmas” (2011).
  • 5. Josh Groban: “Noel” (2007).

Steve Fact O’ The Day
Steve has always been a big fan of Kenny G.

Had Steve been born on Christmas Day, he would want the name changed to National Steve Day.
