Quincy, Illinois, January 5, 2022/ Robert Turek with History in the Heartland, announces the release of “Colorful Quincy”, available now on Amazon books, https://amzn.to/3A06lST.
“Colorful Quincy” combines the rich history of Quincy through descriptions of each coloring page with original, hand-drawn illustrations of Quincy’s architecture and famous people from Quincy. “Colorful Quincy” features 25 single-sided coloring pages, filling a niche for coloring enthusiasts and Quincy history enthusiasts.
“The new ‘Colorful Quincy’ book promotes so many of our main attractions and people,” said Holly Cain, executive director of Quincy Area Convention & Visitors Bureau. “It has been created to reach youths and adults, locals and visitors who will appreciate and learn more of our local history while coloring the pages. We look forward to using it as another tool to promote Quincy.”
Turek describes the book as “a fun way to promote an interest in history along with a creative outlet for all ages. My hope is that this book is satisfying to color as well as learn about the interesting history of our community”.
With “Colorful Quincy,” the author hopes to fill a void in the coloring book genre.
“Larger cities have coloring books dedicated to them, but Quincy has never had one. It was time to change that,” Turek said. “I looked around at the other books already out there, and I knew I could add something uniquely Quincy to the wide array of adult coloring book choices.”
Turek is a lifelong resident of the Quincy area. His work creating media has been featured nationwide in various print and video formats, including his video for PBS Nova highlighting the history of the Cahokia Mounds near St. Louis. He is also the author of “History in the Heartland, Volume 1: Illinois Stories.”
