1. Super Bowl Sunday is in two days. Here are three comments from through the years that illustrate what this particular game means to America:

• Gold medal: “When you’re good at something, you tell everyone. When you’re great at something, they’ll tell you.” — Walter Payton, Chicago Bears running back
• Silver medal: “The superior man blames himself. The inferior man blames others.” — Don Shula, coach of the Miami Dolphins.
• Bronze medal: “The easiest way to remember your wife’s birthday is to marry her on Super Bowl Sunday.” — Matshona Dhliwayo, author.

2. These are 10 of the most popular and/or strangest prop bets for Sunday’s game:

• 1. What color of liquid will be poured on the winning coach?
  Orange, green, none, yellow/green/lime, blue, red/pink or purple. Last year the winning color was blue, but orange has been the most frequently used color over the past 21 years.
• 2. Who will the Super Bowl MVP refer to first in his speech?
  Teammates, God/religion, city, friends, coaches, team owner
• 3. The first Anheuser Busch brand to show up in one of its commercials?
  Budweiser, Bud Light Next, Michelob Ultra, Cutwater Spirits, Bud Light Seltzer Hard Soda, Michelob Ultra Organic Seltzer.
• 4. What color will Snoop Dogg’s shoes be at the beginning of the halftime show?
  Blue, yellow/gold, black, white, gray/silver, orange, green, purple, red, pink
• 5. Who will be shown first during the gamer?
  Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lopez, Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Kim Kardashian
• 6. Will a player leave the game not return due to concussion symptoms?
• 7. Will any scoring drive take less time than it takes to sing the national anthem?
• 8. Which company’s commercial will be the first to air following the coin toss?
  Bud Light and Budweiser are each 15-1 wagers.
• 9. How many times will the chains be used for a measurement?
• 10. How long will it take to sing the national anthem?
  Over her under 1 minute, 35 seconds. The last time a national anthem was under that length was way back 2012 when Kelly Clarkson finished in 94 seconds. Jazmine Sullivan and Eric Church had a rendition last year that lasted 2 minutes and 17 seconds. Mickey Guyton is singing the anthem this year.

3. The cost of a 30-second Super Bowl commercial was $37,500 in 1967. This year it is $6.5 million to $7 million. As far as tickets are concerned, the least expensive ticket on the NFL’s official ticket marketplace earlier this week was going for $4,500 and the highest at $55,000. Both of those prices, however, do not include various fees, which range from $1,000 to as much as $10,000, depending on the ticket’s initial cost.
