Pike County Sheriff’s Department searching for white male missing since March 7
FISHHOOK, Ill. — The Pike County Sheriff’s Department is searching for a 30-year-old white male who has been missing since the early evening of March 7.
Austin Joel Shaw, 30, was last seen just southwest of Fishhook, where it was reported he was dropped off to go rock hunting. A couple of items belonging to Austin were reportedly found in this area. The Pike County Sheriff’s Department received a report of a missing person on March 13, and the area near Fishhook was searched on foot on March 14.
The Illinois State Police Air Operations also conducted a search of this area from the air. A larger scale ground search was conducted March 15 of the area, with 34 volunteers from the Baylis Fire Department, Brown County EMA, Griggsville Fire Department, North Pike Fire Department, Meredosia Fire Department, the Pike County Volunteer Emergency Corps, Pike County EMS and private citizens and family.
The sheriff’s department received a tip on March 15 that Austin was observed walking north of Illinois 104 on 372nd Street at approximately 4:30 p.m. March 10. That area also was searched for about three hours by the Illinois State Police Air Operations. Ground searches of the area are still taking place.
Dozens of tips have been received, and the investigation is still active. Anyone who has seen Austin or has information about his whereabouts are asked to call the Pike County Sheriff’s Department at 217-285-5011.
