EDITOR’S NOTE: The soup luncheon has been cancelled because of problems with the refrigeration system at the WCU Hall.

QUINCY — An all-you-can-eat Spring Soup Day is set for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Western Catholic Union Hall, 516 Maine.

Chicken noodle soup or chili will be served, as well as a ham or turkey sandwich plus a drink for $7. Proceeds will help benefit Homeward Bound Waggin, an animal rescue transport organization. It places animals that, for whatever reason, were unable to be adopted through humane societies and various shelters across West-Central Illinois and Northeast Missouri.

The non-profit operation was founded in 2013. The Homeward Bound Waggin building is a holding facility so the animals can get food, veterinary care and a warm bed until they can be transported to a rescue group — and then eventually a family.

People interested in helping the organization or adopting a pet should contact them at homewardboundwaggin@gmail.com, visit their Facebook page @HomewardBoundWagginInc or stop by the facility at 1800 N. 24th.
