HAMILTON, Ill. — A Keokuk, Iowa, woman was arrested Saturday night after drug paraphernalia was found in a car.

A deputy with the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department contacted a traffic stop at 9:55 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of 10th and Oak in Hamilton after a red 2006 Dodge Caravan failed to stop at the intersection of 10th and Broadway.

The deputy deployed his canine partner, and after a positive alert, the vehicle was searched. A baggie with a small amount of methamphetamine, as well as hypodermic syringes and other drug paraphernalia, was found inside the passenger’s purse. Amanda Picton, 32, of Keokuk was placed under arrest and transported to the Hancock County Jail.

She was released the following day on a recognizance bond.
