Body of man missing since March 7 found Sunday near Adams/Pike county border

FISHHOOK, Ill. — The body of Austin Shaw was found Sunday after a week-long investigation.

A ground search of approximately 240 acres in northwest Pike County and southeast Adams County was conducted on Sunday. Approximately two hours into the search, a body was located in Adams County approximately 100 yards from the Pike County border. The body was positively identified as Shaw. The Adams County Sheriff’s Department was contacted, along with the Adams County Coroner, who assisted in this investigation. 

Shaw’s body was transported to the McLean County Coroner’s Office in Bloomington on Monday for an autopsy. The preliminary manner of Shaw’s death is still pending toxicology results with no assault or altercation prior to death.

Shaw had been missing since the early evening of March 7. He was last seen just southwest of Fishhook, where it was reported he was dropped off to go rock hunting. The Pike County Sheriff’s Department received a report of a missing person on March 13.
