Vegas man arrested after shots fired in Hannibal
HANNIBAL, Mo. — Hannibal Police have arrested a Las Vegas man after shots were fired in the Shawnee Trail neighborhood Tuesday.
On Wednesday, a warrant was issued in the 10th Judicial Circuit Court of Marion County charging Jerome Gaston, 23, originally of Las Vegas, with unlawful use of a weapon, and endangering the welfare of a child.
The arrests were a result of an investigation into a shooting which occurred on Shawnee Trail on Tuesday.
Just before 3 p.m. Tuesday, HPD officers were dispatched to Shawnee Trail for a report of a shooting. Witnesses said a man had fired a gun and fled the area in a vehicle. A description was obtained and the vehicle was located at a residence on Starlight Ridge. Officers contacted subjects at a residence and found Gaston hiding inside the residence. Officers learned a toddler was inside the vehicle at the time of the incident and the child was released to family members.
Officers took two Gaston into custody and recovered two firearms.
There were no injuries reported during the incident, Gaston remains in the Marion County jail on a $100,000 cash only bond.
