QUINCY — Lucas Dotson was named Philanthropic Champion of the Year, and Saya Geisendorfer was named Volunteer Champion of the Year at the 91st annual Beaux Arts Ball on Saturday at the Oakley-Lindsay Center. Both Dotson and Geisendorfer are juniors at Quincy High School.

The Quincy Art Center celebrated nine local teens for their volunteer efforts for the past six months. Other teens who participated were Raea Rockwell, Evie Schuetz, Evan Rockwell, Amber Carmean, Charly Nicholson, Isaac Schuetz and Alex Strong.

Dotson raised the most money through his fundraising efforts and won a $500 educational scholarship. Geisendorfer volunteered the most hours and won a $500 educational scholarship.

Funding from the Beaux Arts Ball helps the Art Center continue its mission to provide opportunities for growth and appreciation of the visual fine arts through exhibitions and programs in the community. In addition to fundraising, the participants attended four professional development workshops taught by area professionals. They also took part in an art workshop and led an art class for students in grades K-3 at the Art Center.

The Beaux Arts Ball began in 1930.

Major sponsors for the ball are Argabright Electric, Blessing Health System, Calftown Cafe, KSG Roofing, McNay Truck Line, Pizzazz Entertainment, Popp’N on Maine, Quincy Medical Group, Quincy Recycle, Refreshment Services Pepsi and TI-TRUST.
