Worried about which might be the worst way to go if zombies and vampires were a real thing? I can help … Welcome to Vol. 255 of The Daily Dirt and today’s three thoughts.

1. Time for a little overrated/underrated:

Overrated: Spaghetti. Too much work is involved with preparing a quality order of spaghetti, and then there is the messiness factor. It’s virtually impossible not to get spaghetti sauce on your shirt.
Underrated: Pizza. A good pizza is like a good friend. You just enjoy being around both on an everyday basis.

Overrated: Zombie. They’re messy, slow and take forever to devour their prey.
Underrated: Vampire. Quick, to the point and for the most part, painless. That initial puncture might sting, but the aftermath is much easier to handle than the zombie snackfest thing.

Overrated: The 1990s. For this phrase alone, much of the 1990s were a major pain: “Get off the internet. I need to use the phone.”
Underrated: The 1970s. It’s the decade that saw Rod Stewart rise to prominence.

2. Our latest and greatest installments of “Found on Facebook”:

  • “What’s black and white and red all over? A zebra falling down the stairs.”
  • “I know a guy addicted to drinking brake fluid, but he says he can stop anytime.”
  • “The truth about fiction is that it’s not true.”
  • “I ordered a chicken and egg from Amazon. I’ll let you now.”
  • “Deja moo: Same old bull.”

3. Thanks for all the responses to U.S. towns with strange names. Here are more from those of you who enjoy playing along. The rules are simple. You send ’em to me, and I award the medals.

  • Gold medal: Whynot, N.C. Really, why not?
  • Silver medal: Waterproof, La. Obviously, a lot of irony in that moniker.
  • Bronze medal: Pie Town, N.M. I’m pretty sure I would enjoy living there.
  • Honorable mention: Searchlight, Nev.; What Cheer, Iowa; Paw Paw, W.Va.

Steve Thought O’ The Day
Steve really, really likes one of the new nicknames for Los Angeles Angels star Shohei Ohtani: “The Shosen One.”

Steve Eighinger writes daily for Muddy River News. He has not yet been named grand marshal of the Pie Festival in September in Pie Town, N.M., but if elected, he would serve.
