Two arrested following shots fired report near 10th and York
QUINCY — Just after 6 p.m. Monday, Quincy Police officers responded to the 1000 block of York in regards to a report of shots fired. When officers arrived on scene, they quickly obtained a description of the suspect vehicle and possible suspects. Officers later established a crime scene in the 300 block of South 11th. No one was injured during the shooting.
While QPD was on scene, deputies with the Adams County Sheriff’s Department located the suspect vehicle in Camp Point. Deputies conducted a traffic stop with the vehicle and took Venus Hernandez into custody. Hernandez was later lodged in the Adams County Jail for aggravated discharge of a firearm.
Then, around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, QPD officers found Casey Wainwright in the 800 block of Lind. Wainwright was taken into custody on multiple Adams County warrants for failure to appear on an aggravated domestic battery charge and failure to appear on an operating an uninsured motor vehicle charge. Wainwright also was lodged on a new unrelated domestic battery charge and charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm in regards to the shooting investigation.
Both subjects were lodged in the Adams County Jail pending formal charges. The Quincy Police Department was assisted by the Adams County Sheriff’s Department and the Illinois State Police.
