‘Heart Check for Tim’ benefit May 14 hopes to raise awareness of unknown heart conditions
QUINCY — Family and friends of Timothy Haley will be the host the “Heart Check for Tim” benefit from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 14 on the Knights of Columbus grounds.
Organizers of the event hope to raise awareness for unknown heart conditions. Haley was 26 years old when he died from an unknown heart issue, later identified as fatal ventricular arrhythmia due to cardiomegaly with hypertrophy.
The event will offer a wiffleball tournament, motorcycle poker run, silent auction, basket raffle, food and cash bar. Quincy Medical Group will be offering on-site heart screenings for high school students.
Proceeds from the event will be distributed between the Quincy Medical Group Foundation, to assist families who have children diagnosed with heart conditions and need medical care outside of the local community, and the Timothy L. Haley Scholarship Fund at Quincy Notre Dame, which will be given to the senior who maintains the highest grade point average while participating in sports during their four years at QND.
For additional information about the benefit, contact Matt Witte at 217-257-9636.
