QUINCY — Cheerful Home and Quincy Children’s Museum were the beneficiaries of funds raised by the Quincy Service League this past year through the Holiday Gift Show, as well as additional smaller fundraisers throughout the year.

Cheerful Home received $2,442.51 and will use the funds to enhance its “Let’s Move” Project, a voluntary initiative to help kids lead healthier lives. There are 5 goals that child care and early education providers are encouraged to meet within the “Let’s Move” program:

  • Increase physical activity
  • Reduce screen time
  • Improve food choices
  • Provide healthy beverages
  • Support breast feeding

The Quincy Children’s Museum received $14,690.78 and plans to use its funding for their “School, Library and Community Center Experience” project that will help the QCM to expand its reach within the schools, library and community. The museum bought a trailer and a Kodokids Outdoor Mobile Magnetic Wall. Families and children can create ramps, tracks, “roller coasters” and more with the wall. The museum plans to travel to community events in its new bookmobile.
