2x4s for Hope to hold ribbon cutting ceremony Sunday for latest Tiny Home

QUINCY — 2x4s for Hope will officially cut the ribbon on its latest Tiny Home in the Quincy area at 215 Spruce at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 10.

Jordan Lenz, executive director of 2x4s for Hope, says the process faced many challenges, but with the generosity of Quincy Medical Group Foundation, a dream has become a reality. In a press release, Lenz said, “This tiny home is much more than just a home for an at-risk veteran in our community; this home is hope. This home proves that even in the darkest of days, there can still be light.”

Interim president Kevin Murphy said the organization learned a lot during this process – its first Tiny Home since the removal of founders Mark and Chris Lawrence in November 2021. “We were fortunate to partner with a great organization like QMG, with plenty of experienced help sent our way throughout the build,” Murphy said.

“Being at the build site over these last few weeks has been a humbling experience. Every volunteer and every business we worked alongside graciously gave of their time and skills to make this house a home for one local veteran, Bob,” QMG CEO Carol Brockmiller said. “Bob nobly chose to serve our country, and it’s an honor to be part of this project for him. We are thankful for all those with 2x4s For Hope and their mission to positively impact the lives of veterans in our community. Most of all, we’re honored to be part of welcoming Bob home.”

“Jordan will never get enough credit for seeing this house to completion,” Murphy added. “She was determined to make this a house our veteran, and the organization, would be proud of — and she delivered.”
