Daily Dirt: A tip o’ the hat to Tina, Whitney, Joan … and Enos Cabell?

Tina Turner and Enos Cabell kind of share today’s spotlight … Welcome to today’s three thoughts that make up Vol. 357 of The Daily Dirt.

1. Today we close our look at the best female pop singers of that incredible era wrapped around the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s.

• 1. Tina Turner: She emerged as a superstar in the 1980s when she began to have a major impact what we listened to on our FM radios. Turner had five top-10 hits in that decade, including “What’s Love Got To Do With It,” “Better Be Good To Me,” “Private Dancer,” “Typical Male” and “We Don’t Need Another Hero.” Tina had the voice, the sound and the look of someone who would eventually enter the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which she did in 2021. She had also been inducted into the hall in 1991 for her work with then-husband Ike Turner. Tina is now 82 years old.
• 2. Whitney Houston: We all know how this sad story ended. What a talent Houston was. 
• 3. Joan Jett: This wasn’t a bad decade for Joan and the Blackherats. Among their hits songs in the 1980s were “I Love Rock And Roll,” “Crimson and Clover” and “I Hate Myself For Loving You.”
• 4. Bonnie Tyler: Her Rod Stewart-esque voice always made her on one of the most easily recognizable sounds on the radio.
• 5. Cyndi Lauper: The outrageous hair and overall look aside, Lauper was a genuine talent. My favorite song of hers will always be “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun,” featuring Capt. Lou Albano.
• 6. Pat Benatar: Go ahead. Hit me with your best shot.
• 7. Madonna: What many fail to accept was that she was/is a tremendous talent. She just had trouble keeping her clothes on.
• 8. Belinda Carlisle: The Go-Gos were a great girls group. Belinda was even better as a solo artist.
• 9. Annie Lennox: I have always wondered what she would have looked like with something other than her trademark buzzcut.
• 10. Suzi Quatro: If nothing else, she had the best name of the decade.

• Jerry Seinfeld receives an estimated $40 million to $60 million in royalties each year from reruns of the legendary “Seinfeld” sitcom, which ended its network run in 1998.
• The main stars from the “Friends” TV show — David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc, Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, Matthew Perry and Lisa Kudrow — each receive about $20 million in payments each year from the show’s syndication and merchandising. 
• “NCIS” star Mark Harmon earns about $14 million each year the show’s syndication.
