The District’s ‘Welcome Back to School’ appreciation event set for Aug. 13

QUINCY — The District, along with the Regional Office of Education, will sponsor a Shop Local Saturday
– Welcome Back to School appreciation event on Saturday, Aug. 13. Several downtown establishments are offering special discounts from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for anyone who shows proof of employment with their school badge.

Shoppers will find 10 percent discounts at:

  • Quincy Tea Co.
  • Calftown Café
  • Love it or Leave It
  • Sassy Jo’s Boutique
  • 644 Maine
  • District Designs
  • Domestics, Etc.
  • Shakerhill
  • MomBod Boutique
  • Yellow Kiss
  • Thyme Square

The Quincy Axe Company asks people to use the code THANKYOU5 while booking for a special discount that day. Revelry Sports Bar will be hosting a Bloody Mary and mimosa bar from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and all educational employees will receive 30 percent off a drink.

Education employees also can enjoy the Farmer’s Market in Washington Park from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Live music will be performed by Tim Smith, and free yoga and the Big Bros BBQ food truck will be in the park.

“Quincy downtown businesses were eager to take the lead in providing special discounts and experiences for our community teachers and staff,” said Emily Lombardi, director of economic development for The District, in a press release. “We are thrilled with the partnership of ROE to create a relaxed family atmosphere to honor their efforts in supporting our community students. We hope this is a small step to show our appreciation.”
