QUINCY – Officials from the city of Quincy say no evidence of identity theft or fraud was found after an investigation of a cybersecurity incident that happened in May 2022.

A press release issued late Monday afternoon said the city’s municipal operations now are fully functional.

“The city appreciates the community’s patience and understanding as the investigation of this incident was completed,” according to a press release from Mayor Mike Troup’s office.

The cybersecurity incident impacted the city’s computer systems and caused a temporary disruption to some municipal services.

“We immediately launched an investigation to confirm the nature and scope of the incident, working quickly to restore our normal business operations and dedicating substantial resources to the response effort,” the press release read. “We also promptly notified federal law enforcement and cooperated with any independent investigation the authorities launched into this incident.”

The investigation recently revealed that information related to a limited number of people may have been affected as a result of the incident. In accordance with its legal obligations, the city is sending direct notice of the incident through the U.S. Mail to any people for whom it has complete address information. The city also has posted notice of the incident on its website and issued a corresponding press release to nationwide media outlets.
