Maxamillions withdraws request for gaming parlor at 19th and Jefferson
QUINCY – Muddy River News has learned that Maxamillions will no longer attempt to get a liquor license to place another gaming parlor in Quincy, this one at 19th and Jefferson.
Tanner Freiburg said he has dropped the request, which was to go before the Quincy City Council at tonight’s meeting.
The Quincy Plan Commission denied Freiburg’s proposals, which is in essence a special use permit for that location, last week. Freiburg, who is also a member of the Plan Commission, recused himself from the process but his colleagues on the commission rejected the proposal following several public comments, including some from children.
Maxamillions operates numerous gaming parlors throughout West-Central and Central Illinois.
The strip mall is one of two in the 1900 block of Jefferson in a pair of complex’s that houses a tax preparer, an insurance agency, a chiropractor, a beauty shop, a financial services business and a home decor shop.
