September Sunday Music Series concert to feature Quincy University faculty on Sunday
QUINCY — Quincy University’s music department will present the September Sunday Music Concert Series: Quincy University Faculty Showcase at 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, in the Francis Hall chapel, 1800 College Avenue. The recital is free and open to the public.
Christine Damm, dean of Quincy University’s fine arts and communication department, will present “Regrets and Resolutions” by Gary Schocker for clarinet and piano. Bill Machold, director of bands, will perform “Footpath” by Dave Samuels for marimba.
Kristin Ramseyer, director of choirs, will present the aria “Je dis que rien ne m’épouvante” from the opera Carmen by Georges Bizet. Machold and Ramseyer then will perform “Three Poems” by Antonio Machado for soprano and marimba, composed by Mark Vance. This work is a setting of English translations of three poems by Antonio Machado, a Spanish poet from the turn of the century.
Darren Lillard will perform “Light of Sothis” by contemporary composer, Amy Quate. The University Faculty Showcase also will feature a duet performance by guest soprano Allison Hutson, QU assistant director of admissions communications, with Ramseyer.
Laura Kammerer, instructor of piano, will accompany performances. Adjunct faculty Catherine Martinez, trumpet; Sara Devine, flute; and Chad Ensiger, viola, will round out the program.
