Miss Quincy Scholarship Program seeks candidates for 75th anniversary competition on Jan. 7

QUINCY — The Miss Quincy Scholarship Program, an official preliminary to Miss Illinois and Miss America, is seeking candidates for its 2023 competition to be held Jan. 7 at Quincy Community Theatre.

Candidates will have the opportunity to earn scholarships, hone their interview skills, become a part of an achievement program and follow their dream of becoming Miss America. Prior pageant experience is not necessary.

“Our program provides a unique opportunity for young women to grow personally and professionally while advocating for a cause that is important to them,” Lindsey Hess, executive director of the Miss Quincy Scholarship Program, said in a press release. “I am excited to welcome a new class of candidates into the sisterhood and look forward to seeing who will represent our community next.”

Candidates for Miss Quincy must be between the ages of 19-26 and a resident, student or employee in the counties of Adams, Brown, Pike, Hancock, Schuyler, McDonough or Scott. Areas of competition are talent, interview, on-stage question, social impact pitch and evening wear. The winner will receive a scholarship, a prize package and the opportunity to compete at the Miss Illinois competition in June 2023 in Marion.

To be eligible for Miss Quincy’s Outstanding Teen, candidates must be between the ages of 13-18 (no older than 18 as of Dec. 31, 2022) and a resident or student in the counties of Adams, Brown, Pike, Hancock, Schuyler, McDonough, or Scott. Areas of competition are talent, interview, on-stage question, fitness and evening wear. The winner will receive a scholarship, a prize package, and the opportunity to compete at the Miss Illinois’ Outstanding Teen competition in June 2023 in Marion.

The Miss Quincy Scholarship Program also is accepting applications for its Princess program. This fun-filled, non-competitive program benefits girls ages 5-10 looking to build upon skills that promote self-confidence and poise while being mentored by today’s young leaders. Princesses will take the stage during the Miss Quincy Competition, participate in a tea party and learn the importance of manners, kindness and service to her community. 

The 2022 Miss Quincy is Juliana Fray, who finished as fourth runner-up at Miss Illinois last June. Alli Peterson is the reigning Miss Quincy’s Outstanding Teen. She finished as fifth runner-up at Miss Illinois’ Outstanding Teen and won awards for top score in evening gown and on-stage question and most photogenic.
