BOWLING GREEN, Mo. — Spectrum joined Lt. Gov. Mike Kehoe along with state and community leaders on Oct. 12 to celebrate a fiber-optic network buildout that brings gigabit broadband and other Spectrum services to nearly 470 additional homes and small businesses in several communities across Pike County.

In a press release, Kehoe said, “Spectrum’s expansion in Pike County is a crucial step toward connecting all Missourians to high-speed internet services. We must ensure our state remains competitive, and expanding broadband access to unserved parts of the state will help close the digital gap in our state.”

Spectrum’s newly constructed fiber-optic network buildout in Pike County is part of the company’s approximately $5 billion investment in unserved rural communities, which includes more than $1 billion won in the Federal Communications Commission’s RDOF auction. The company’s RDOF expansion will provide broadband access to approximately 1 million customer locations as estimated by the FCC across 24 states in the coming years.

“As Spectrum continues the multiyear investment to extend our gigabit network to more homes and businesses in Pike County, we remain committed to deliver the high-value broadband, mobile, TV and voice services to even more people in the area,” said Matt Brown, Spectrum’s vice president of construction. “We are providing superior connectivity to local residents and small businesses at highly competitive prices, backed by an organization committed to craftsmanship and service.”

Spectrum offers customers internet plans with speeds up to 1 Gbps for both residential customers and small business clients, starting speeds of 300 Mbps and no modem fees, data caps or contracts. Spectrum Business Internet offers download speeds of 300 Mbps, 600 Mbps and 1 Gbps.

“I’ve been a strong supporter of expanding rural broadband for years. Reliable internet access isn’t a luxury anymore, it’s an absolute necessity—for small businesses, farmers, schools, and hospitals,” U.S. Rep. Sam Graves said. “I’m thrilled to see this money being put to good use expanding internet access in Pike County.”

Local leaders also applauded Spectrum’s efforts to bring high-speed internet to more people in Pike County.

“Broadband has become a key driver in our daily lives. Whether it’s homework, healthcare or simply buying and selling products, Spectrum’s commitment to Pike County is making a positive impact for generations to come,” Pike County commissioner Bill Allen said.

“The Pike County Commission is dedicated to getting broadband to as many people as possible,” Pike County commissioner Tommy Wallace said. “One hundred percent of rural America, like Pike County, needs a reliable high-speed internet connection.”
