Kairos Hope to offer Festival of Trees beginning Thursday

MONROE CITY, Mo. — Kairos Hope, a Christian recovery home for survivors of human trafficking, sexual abuse and sexual trauma, will hold a Festival of Trees fundraiser beginning Thanksgiving Day and continuing daily through Dec. 3.

Hours are 2-10 p.m., with Saturday hours (Nov. 26 and Dec. 3) from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. The site for the fundraiser is Opera House Antiques and Uniques, 208 S. Main.

More than 25 trees will be on display decorated or sponsored by community members, local businesses, churches and other organizations. The trees will be offered for sale through a silent auction. Community members can vote for their favorite tree. The designer of the most popular tree will receive gift cards donated by local businesses. This is a family-friendly Christmas event that helps Kairos Hope care for survivors of sexual trauma. 

Kairos Hope, established in 2018, is located in Monroe City but accepts applicants nationwide. The program offered to residents lasts from six to nine months, based on the individual recovery of each resident.  Residents live free of charge in the home, which is designed to be comforting, healing and to make the residents feel valued. Capacity of the house is 12 women.

A open house of the facility will be held from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10.
