Advent at the Oasis begins Wednesday at historic Nauvoo Theatre

NAUVOO, Ill. — “Watch. Wait. Wonder. Worship” will be the theme for the midweek “Oasis” gathering during the four Wednesdays of Advent — Nov. 30 and Dec. 7, 14 and 21 — at the historic Nauvoo Theatre. Each week the message will focus on a different aspect of preparing hearts for the coming of Christ.

  • Nov. 30: Pastor Roger Welty of River of Life Fellowship in Dallas City will encourage listeners to watch for the Lord.
  • Dec. 7:Pastor Mark Nichols of Burnside Christian Church will talk about waiting with patience and hope.
  • Dec. 14: Reflection on the wonder of Christ’s coming by Pastor Larry Menschel, formerly of Golden’s Point Church, Hamilton.
  • Dec. 21: Pastor Doug Campbell of Elvaston Community Church speaks on worshipping God who comes to us in Jesus Christ.

Oasis is an informal, non-denominational gathering with inspirational Christian music and messages. Music is provided by Living Water, a local worship band led by Michael Haas of rural Hamilton, with Kris Knoke of Nauvoo and Amanda Greenhalge of Dallas City. 

Child care is available. Refreshments are served afterwards.
