Palmyra man arrested on multiple charges

PALMYRA, Mo. — After several lengthy investigations conducted by the Palmyra Police Department, including Burglary, Identity Theft and Forgery arrest warrants were issued on Nikolas M. Bennett, 33, of Palmyra. 

The initial investigation was a burglary of the Palmyra Middle School on July 25, 2022, in which Bennett was a suspect.  The second investigation was for Identity Theft on August 24, 2022.   During the investigations, enough probable cause was established to obtain a search warrant of Bennett’s residence located in the 600 block of W. Main Cross in Palmyra.  During the execution of the search warrant other items, including a firearm, methamphetamine and counterfeit currency were found in the residence prompting additional charges to be filled on Bennett.  Bennett also was arrested on outstanding warrants out of Illinois. 

On November 22, 2022 the Marion County prosecuting attorney’s office filed 3 felony warrants on Bennett:

• Second Degree Burglary — $25,000 cash or surety
• Forgery 7 counts —   $50,000 cash or surety
• Unlawful possession of a firearm  — $25,000 cash or surety
• Miscellaneous charges: Possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia

Bennett is lodged in the Adams Co. Illinois jail
