Monroe County sheriff asking for information to help find 88-year-old woman missing for a year
HOLLIDAY, Mo. — The search by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office for a woman who has been missing for a year continues.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office took a report of a missing person at 4:24 p.m. Dec. 17, 2021. The last known contact with Betty L. Hayes, 88, was by a family member by telephone on the night of Dec. 16. She was believed to be at her residence, 17040 Route C in Holliday, Mo.
A large-scale search was initiated. An intensive investigation, involving multiple law enforcement agencies, into the whereabouts of Hayes has been ongoing since the time of her disappearance.
“Our office, along with the Missouri State Highway Patrol and several other agencies, have followed multiple leads during the investigation,” Monroe County Sheriff Joe Colston said in a press release. “However, the whereabouts of Ms. Hayes is still unknown. We are asking the public to contact the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office or the Missouri State Highway Patrol with any information pertaining to Betty Hayes.
“We are committed to following all leads and encourage the public to contact us with any information they may have. Our office in conjunction with the Missouri State Highway Patrol is still actively investigating to determine the whereabouts of Betty Hayes. We will not rest until we have answers for the family and our community. These investigations sometime take more time than we would like to have answers, but we are determined to find those answers.”
