QUINCY — Two more arrests were made Wednesday by the Quincy Police Department in connection to a shooting incident in the 500 block of South Eighth Street early Tuesday morning, and an arrest warrant has been issued for another Quincy man in this case.

Officers with the Quincy Police Department and an Adams County Ambulance unit responded at 12:33 a.m. Tuesday to the report of a disturbance during which someone had been shot. Upon arrival, officers met with a 22-year-old male who suffered a gunshot wound to his foot.  He was transported to Blessing Hospital for treatment.

Gage Schroder, 24, of Quincy was arrested shortly after the shooting at a separate residence in Quincy by deputies from the Adams County Sheriff’s Department. He is lodged in the Adams County Jail on charges of aggravated battery and mob action. His bond was set at $50,000 by Judge Tad Brenner during his first appearance Wednesday in Adams County Circuit Court.

Detectives with the Quincy Police Department Detectives conducted a crime scene investigation and interviews. Shell casings were recovered at the scene, but as of Thursday morning, a weapon has not been recovered.

Detectives determined a group of several people gathered at a residence in the 500 block of South Eighth to confront the shooting victim about a prior incident.  Detectives concluded the shooting victim was struck with hands, feet and a “stun gun” before being shot.

QPD detectives and officers identified other suspects involved in the incident. Chaunessi Cano, 20, of Quincy, and Hailey Carson, 18, of Quincy, both were arrested Wednesday. They face charges of aggravated battery and mob action. Carson also faces a charge of not having a valid FOID card in reference to possession of the “stun gun.”

Both Cano and Carson are lodged in the Adams County Jail. Both women will make their first appearance in Adams County Circuit Court before Brenner on Thursday afternoon.

Two arrest warrants were issued Wednesday for Brendan M. Schroder, 19, of Quincy. The first warrant is related to Tuesday’s incident and is for charges of aggravated battery with a firearm, aggravated discharge of a firearm and unlawful possession of weapons by a felon.

The second arrest warrant for Brendan Schroder is for attempted aggravated battery with a firearm (with a petition to revoke probation) involving a separate shooting incident that occurred in the 500 block of Jersey Street on Aug. 22. He pled guilty to the charge and was sentenced in October to 24 months of probation and time already served in the Adams County Jail.

A non-serialized firearm, commonly known as a “ghost gun,” was recovered in that case.

The investigation of Tuesday morning’s incident is ongoing.  Anyone with information is asked to call the Quincy Police Department or Quincy Regional Crime Stoppers.
