MONROE CITY, Mo. — Loyd’s Gifts and Collectibles is moving its Monroe City store, currently at 111 S. Main, to a new location at 100 N. Main inside Applebee Tree Flowers and Gifts on Tuesday, Jan. 17.

In a press release, owner Doug Tenhouse said, “Loyd’s really enjoys being a part of the Monroe City community. As a relatively new small business, we must continue to evaluate performance at both our Quincy, Ill., and Monroe City locations. After careful consideration, we have made the decision to move locations in Monroe City to maintain a presence in the community while strengthening the shop’s position to continue providing updated inventory and keeping our patrons in all our markets happy.”

Loyd’s will share space with Applebee Tree Flowers and Gifts under a new agreement between the businesses. The hours for the Monroe City location will adjust to Tuesday through Friday 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The Quincy location hours remain unchanged.

“Our goal is to make this move as seamless as possible. We are excited to be working with the Applebee Tree management and staff to continue Loyd’s presence in Monroe City. The downtown community continues to thrive, and we are looking forward to 2023 in this new space,” Tenhouse said.

To prepare for the move, Loyd’s Monroe City store will be closed Friday and Saturday, Jan. 13-14. The new location will open at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17.

Loyd’s Gifts and Collectibles opened its doors in April 2021 in downtown Quincy and specializes in gifts for all occasions and holidays, as well as one-of-a-kind antiques and collectibles. The business expanded to Monroe City in July 2022. Customers can shop in-store and online at www.loydsgifts.com, where shop inventory may be browsed and purchased for pickup, local delivery (Quincy only) or USPS mailing anywhere in the continental United States.
