Quincy University to celebrate fifth annual QU Alumni Day on Thursday

QUINCY, — Quincy University will have its fifth annual QU Alumni Day on Thursday, Feb. 16, in honor of the university’s first day of classes in February 1860.

QU alums are encouraged to wear a QU Alumni button and QU gear to work and attend the day’s events. Participating alumni will receive tickets to the women’s and men’s basketball games that night.

In a press release, Kyra Schuckman, coordinator of alumni services, said, “I invite all QU alumni, no matter where you live, to wear a QU Alumni button or your favorite QU gear and take a picture of yourself to share on social media using #qualumniday. I encourage all QU alumni in the Quincy region to join us for the day’s events as we celebrate their successes as graduates.”

The day will start with “Mimosas with McGee” at the Connie Niemann Center at North Campus from 7:30-9 a.m. Alumni are invited to enjoy lunch, courtesy of fellow alumnus Luis Barnes from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the QU cafeteria in student union.

Alumni get free admission that night to the women’s and men’s basketball games vs. Truman State University. Alumni will enjoy a dessert bar and can be a part of a group picture during halftime of the men’s basketball game. The day will end with an online trivia game starting at 9 p.m with a chance to win QU attire and prizes.

QU alumni buttons and basketball tickets will be available at “Mimosas with McGee,” the alumni lunch or the Office of Advancement in Francis Hall B37. Alumni who attend any event will receive an Alumni Day T-shirt.
