QUINCY — St. John’s Cathedral, 3728 Payson Road, is seeking contestants for its 14th annual BBQ Blast from noon to 4 p.m. on Sept. 18.

Teams will compete in up to four categories — ribs, chicken, pork and meatless — for $1,900 in prize money and trophies. A panel of judges will vote for the best barbecue in each category. The event will take place under a tent on the church grounds. The event is open to the public. It costs $7 per person to sample each team’s barbecue and cast a vote for the People’s Choice Award.

The event also will have live music, beer wagons, basket raffles, soda and hot dogs. To learn more, contact David Williams at 217-430-7130.
