Two from Dallas City charged with meth possession after vehicle stop
DALLAS CITY, Ill. — A traffic stop on Friday led to the arrests of two people who were charged with possession of methamphetamine.
A Hancock County Sheriff’s deputy made a traffic stop on a blue Hyundai on Illinois 9/96 at the west edge of Dallas City at 1:24 p.m. Billy J. Dewein, 44, of Dallas City, the passenger in the vehicle, had a warrant for his arrest issued by the U.S. Marshal’s Service for a probation violation related to methamphetamine.
Dewein admitted to deputies he had drug paraphernalia. A search led to the discovery that Dewein was in possession of less than five grams of methamphetamine. The driver, Tosha L. Newman, 27, of Dallas City, also was in possession of less than five grams of methamphetamine.
Dewein and Newman were transported to the Hancock County Jail. Newman was released on a recognizance bond after her initial court appearance. Dewein was held on his warrant.
