Two recycling drop-off sites to open Wednesday; curbside recycling program to end Friday

QUINCY — The city’s curbside recycling program will end Friday, March 3. 

Current recycling customers can keep their orange recycling bins for personal use. If you want to return your bin to the city, set the empty bin at the curb during the week of March 5, and city crews will pick it up. Recycling bins are being sold for $15 while supplies last. 

Customers should note the monthly recycling fee will no longer appear on your water bill. If you have questions about recycling fees and want to purchase a recycling bin, contact the utilities department at 217-228-4580 or visit the department at 730 Maine.

Recycling drop-off sites at the Harrison Hy-Vee, 1400 Harrison, and Refreshment Services Pepsi, 1121 Locust, will be open for public use beginning Wednesday, March 1. A third recycling site location will be announced after the finalization of the lease agreement.

Residents can dispose of recyclable materials seven days a week between dawn and dusk at all sites. People with questions about recycling drop-off sites or recyclable materials should contact Central Services at 217-228-4557.
