Daily Dirt: This just in…Steve likes snacks

If you agree snacks are an all-important part of life, welcome aboard Vol. 16 of the Daily Dirt:

1. Here’s my own personal ranking for snacks that came along during the 1960s-1980s period, a.k.a. the formative years for my digestive system. I should note that most of the major potato chip brands came along well before the 1960s, which is why there are none mentioned:

A. Pringles (1969): My favorite Pringles are the traditional flavor with ripples.

B. Famous Amos Chocolate Chip Cookies (1975):I especially like the ones with nuts in them.

C. Pop-Tarts (1964):Some 57 years later, those brown sugar cinnamon-frosted Pop Tarts still have a home on my snack shelf.

2. Earlier this week, I mentioned that the late Bobo Brazil was my all-time favorite wrestler. I should have mentioned that Bobo was my favorite “good guy” when it came to pro matmen. My favorite “bad guy” has always been The Sheik, whose in-ring schtick was built around being a rich and brutal Syrian who administered a new level of violence. The Sheik, who was involved in some of the bloodiest matches of his era (his heyday was in the 1960s), also helped train a number of modern wrestling stars, including Rob Van Dam, Raven and his nephew Sabu. The Sheik was born Edward George Farhat in Lansing, Mich., and died in 2003 at age 76. 

3. I would guess that most of you reading this probably enjoyed Play-Doh as a child. But how many of you know Play-Doh was originally marketed as a wallpaper cleaner?
