Four staff members in Palmyra School District placed on paid leave; School Board meeting tonight

PALMYRA, Mo. — A special meeting of the Palmyra School Board has been scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Superintendent Jason Harper told Muddy River News Tuesday afternoon that four staff members with the Palmyra School District were placed on paid leaves of absence on Tuesday. He provided no other information about the suspended educators.

Harper said the board will meet tonight in closed session, and “no decisions will be made.” 

“We’re just going to discuss where we are at and what could lie ahead,” Harper said.

An agenda for tonight’s meeting was not posted on the Palmyra School District website as of 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. However, Harper said a notice about the meeting was posted outside his office as board policy dictates.

School boards typically go into closed session to discuss the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance or dismissal of employees of a school district, or to discuss collective negotiating matters between a school district and its employees.
